LABOR MARKET RESOURCES
Port Neches-Groves High School and Nederland High School are piloting an electrician’s program in conjunction with the Electrician’s Training Center in Nederland. IBEW supplied both PN-GHS and NHS with its online training course, textbooks, and calculators for this program. This venture is funded by a grant opportunity through a local electrical contracting company. Mr. Cris Boucher is the electrical teacher in this pilot program for PN-GHS students. Students who successfully complete this year of training have the opportunity for it to count toward the first year of the five-year electrician’s apprenticeship program after graduation from PN-G High School. Sixteen PN-GHS students are enrolled in this pilot program..
Career & Technical Education Student Organizations
Students enrolled in a CTE course may have the opportunity to participate in a student organization appropriate to the course in which he/she is enrolled. Career and Technical Education student organizations promote leadership and job skill training and provides scholarship opportunities.
TOTEM POLE DEDICATION
September, 2011--PN-GHS Career and Technical Education criminal justice students envisioned a totem pole for the corner of Merriman and Magnolia Avenues and the PN-GHS Career and Technical Education welding and drafting students made it happen! High school art students joined in the project and painted the Totem Pole! The Totem Pole was dedicated in May, 2011.
